When does my car need an MOT?

All vehicles over 3 years old are required to carry out an MOT test every year.

How long does it take?

The test usullay takes around 45 minutes. however we do recommend allowing an hour time as minor repair might be needed to be carry out. Also make sure you bring to us 10 minutes before your booked time. (you can bring your car from opening hours onward)

 

What type of vehicle do you MOT?

Car and Small Vans: At the moment we only carry out test on Class 4 Vehicles.

Unfortunatley we do not carry out test on class 7 , three wheeled vehicles and motorcycles.

What documents do I need to bring?

If it is the first time your vehicle is being tested you will need to bring your V5C (log book) Vehicle registration document, it is also required if the registration plate has changed since it is last MOT.

What happen if my vehicle fails?

If a vehicle fails it is MOT test,  it has to be repaired and retested. You can not drive a car legally on the road untill it has been issued with a pass MOT certificate. Most repairs can be done onsite and on same day, we will always inform in advance before we carry out any work.

Is there a charge for a retest?

If you chose to repair your car in a different garage, you can always bring it back to our test centre within 10 days of it is initial test. If you do bring your car after 10 days you will be charged for the full MOT.

What if I disagree with the decision?

If your car fails its MOT and you are not happy with our decision, you should ask for a complained form from the test centre. If the appeal is successful the fee or part of it will be returned. however you should not repair your car before the appeal is considered as it may affect the outcome of the appeal.
